Marisa Pons is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at EHU since 1997.
She is a theoretical physicist whose research career began at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, working on nonlinear optics and multiphoton physics. After completing her PhD, she carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Rochester and at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI).
Since joining EHU at the School of Engineering of Bilbao, her research has focused on quantum technologies and quantum mechanics, particularly in two main directions: asymmetric devices such as transistors and thermal rectifiers, and scattering processes in both relativistic and non-relativistic regimes, including tunnelling time phenomena.
She maintains active collaborations with external research groups, in particular with the group of Anna Sanpera at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She has an established publication record in high-impact international journals, including Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A, and Physical Review E, among others. She has cosupervised doctoral theses.
