Iñigo Arrazola is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at EHU since 2024.
He has an established research profile in Quantum Science and Technologies, with contributions to quantum computation, simulation, and sensing across platforms such as trapped ions, diamond color centers, quantum dots, and ultracold atoms. His work has appeared in internationally recognized journals including PRX Quantum, npj Quantum Information, Physical Review A, Physical Review Applied, and Communications Physics.
His current research explores quantum systems in which mechanical vibrations mediate interactions between spins, including trapped-ion platforms and solid-state systems such as color centers coupled to mechanical resonators. He also studies solid-state approaches to quantum information transfer, including quantum dots and light-mediated links between distant devices, as well as driven open quantum systems where environmental interactions can generate or stabilize entanglement and collective quantum phenomena. His collaborations with experimental groups help connect his theoretical work with realistic physical platforms and constraints.
He has participated in competitive European, national, and regional research projects, and has carried out postdoctoral stays and research visits at leading international institutions, including TU Wien, CSIC, Oxford University, Shanghai University, and the IQOQI. He has also contributed to seminars and conferences in multiple countries and served as a referee for international journals, reflecting his engagement with the broader
scientific community.
