Lianao Wu is an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Department of Physics at EHU since 2008.
He obtained his PhD in Physics from Jilin University (China) in 1989, where he subsequently held academic positions as Associate Professor (1992–1996) and Full Professor (1997–1999).
He has developed an extensive international career, including appointments as Visiting Professor at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics at Osaka University (1996–1997), Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (1999–2000), and Research Associate at the Centre for Quantum Information & Quantum Control at the University of Toronto (2000–2008).
His research focuses on theoretical aspects of quantum systems and devices, with particular emphasis on quantum control and its applications to quantum computation. His current work addresses quantum algorithms, including their self-protection in the NISQ era, and architectures relevant to the development of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers.
He holds several U.S. patents. He has also organized international conferences in quantum control, quantum information, and quantum devices, and serves on the editorial board of Scientific Reports while acting as referee for several leading scientific journals. He has been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists and among the Influential People in Quantum Computing.
