Géza Tóth is an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Department of Physics at EHU since 2008.
He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1994 and completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame (USA) in 2000.
He subsequently held several postdoctoral positions, including at the Department of Theoretical Physics of the University of Oxford (2001–2002, with J. Yeomans), at the Theoretical Division of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Munich (2003–2006, with J. I. Cirac), at the Wigner Research Centre for Physics in Budapest (2006), and at ICFO in Barcelona (2007–2008, with M. Lewenstein). During this period, he also held a Marie Curie fellowship and a Ramón y Cajal contract.
His research focuses on quantum entanglement detection, quantum optics, and quantum metrology. He has coordinated and participated in several international and European research projects in quantum science, including ERC and collaborative European programmes.
He is a recipient of the Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and serves as a member of the Editorial College of SciPost Physics.
